Welcome to netKar PRO and thank you for choosing this software. Our aim is to provide you with the finest real time race car simulator to date, to allow you to race among countless opponents around the globe and recreate the correct behavior for a number of race cars. But that’s just the technical side of it. What we really want to achieve with this project is allowing you to feel part of the amazing world of racing, a world where words like honor, respect, talent, commitment still mean something. Recreating a world that is visually familiar, recreating the sounds, recreating the reactions into your steering wheel, putting you into the pressure and the stress of a car race; by doing all of these things we hope that, next time (if) you’ll take your seat into a real race car you’ll think “I’ve been here before”.
netKar PRO might feel to you a bit rough around the edges sometimes. But we like to think about this software as an hand made sports car: surely it rattles here and there, surely you can’t see that well if you need to parallel park in the driveway, but when it comes to deliver what it’s meant to do, there’s no one stopping it. In this way, we only put in what we feel it’s “necessary” and what we feel it’s reliable enough to handle the pressure. And, in the same way, we don’t settle for the “good enough” feature, but we test and retest every part of this software to make sure the theory, the math, the physic behind the scene is, actually, correct.
This first chapter of this adventure has much more under the bonnet that you can see now. More then 2/3 of the entire time spent developing this software was used to morph the entire software structure that powered netKar 0.9.9. “Namie” into a flexible engine capable to simulate a huge typology of vehicles driven by a db/script input. Differential in series, electronic differentials, complex spring and coil-over, traction control systems, ABS systems, 6 wheels cars: this is just a small list of what’s in the software but you still can’t see cause the cars we developed for this first incarnation don’t feature those elements. Soon, with the release of what we call the nK|dK (netKar Development Kit) the full potential of the software will be unleashed and offered to the modding community.
